StyleWeek Northeast
In my corporate life I work with budgets and such so I am used to going through the year not in months but instead in quarters…. well, Q4 my friend, has been very busy and I couldn’t be happier. Yes it has been a lot of work, and a lot of stress – at times it has been overwhelming (ask my husband) but at the end all the work has paid off.
Today I want to tell you about my experience being part of StyleWeek Northeast. I have known about this show for some time but it never seemed like the right time. I had a brief conversation with Rosanna Ortiz who is the founder of Styleweek and for some reason I honestly don’t even remember now I decided… again… it wasn’t the right time. little did I know.
Even when things don’t work out right at that moment, I always like to keep in touch with everyone that I work with and may work with in the future. Just because I won’t be working with them, doesn’t mean I can’t refer them to someone else within my network.
I was having a chat with a friend about how sometimes it takes me a long time to make decisions or how when I make a decision I then doubt myself. Well when Rosanna called me one day to let me know that one of her designers had to pull out of the show and that there was a spot for a designer on closing night the new me must have answered the phone because I immediately jumped at the chance.
Styleweek Northeast was a fantastic experience, I simply cannot say it enough. First, I think this has been the longest catwalk I have ever seen which is great for both the designer and the models to show off our stuff. I met amazing people that I would work with in a heartbeat, but one of the coolest things was that I got to bring my husband, my kids Omar and Sofia and they sat front row to watch the show.
Omar couldn’t help himself and when he saw me walk past him he yelled “mami!”, I invited him to walk with me but true to his lazy nature he wanted to be carried. of course I carried him.
